So, how do you look fabulous while the UV rays, sand, and humidity are working against you? Instead of hiding behind those convenient sunglasses, keep these handy beauty products in your beach tote to keep you from looking like a Walking Dead zombie:
1) Clinique’s Moisture Surge Face Spray Thirsty Skin Relief, $22.00
As you carelessly frolic in the water, it’s important to keep your pretty face cool and moisturized. When I let my face toast for long periods of time, dry patches are guaranteed, so to prevent such blasphemy I’ll spritz a couple of pumps of this magical aloe spray.
2) Urban Decay’s 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner, $19.00
If it wasn’t for Urban Decay, I’d either have raccoon eyes OR look like a sick person by the end of the day. I’m a die-hard fan when it comes to any eyeliner products from Urban Decay, but this line specifically seems to be the best fit for the beach, because 1- it’s waterproof, 2- it’s highly pigmented, 3- it’s easy to apply, and 4- it comes in fun colors to correlate with your bathing suit.
3) Neosporin’s Lip Health with SPF 20, $5.39 (@ your local CVS)
The one, can’t-live-without item in my purse is exactly this product here. For a lip balm, yeah it’s on the pricier end, but if you’re anything like me where your lips look cracked out during the between seasons, this will save your lip life. It’ll not only protect your lips from getting sunburned, but it’ll restore healthier looking lips. It’s more on the glossier end so if you’re looking for more of a matted finish, I’d suggest Burt’s Bees Sun Protecting Lip Balm.
4) Paul Mitchell’s Texturizing Sea Spray, $12.99 (@ Amazon)
Whether you swim in the ocean or not, this sea spray will provide moisture AND volume for your hair, so you can run down the beach like a Baywatch babe, tossing your hair and all.
5) Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Waterproof Brow Pencil, $20.00
Thanks to the paper thin, barely there eyebrow fad in my high school days (click here for reference), my eyebrows slowly faded when I hastily over-plucked to “fit in.” Yeup, I’m shamefully SMH right now. So now, I have to draw my eyebrows in with wonderful tools like this pencil. If you’re one of the unfortunates like me, this long-lasting pencil will help your eyebrows look nice and full as you swim, tan, and sweat at the beach.
6) Josie Maran’s Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47 with Sunboost ATB, $32.00
Last but not least, you definitely want to carry this very item in your beach tote. Sunscreen moisturizer will keep your skin looking young, and save you from brown spots, along with discoloration. There’s a misconception that if you have oily skin, you must only purchase oil-free products, which isn’t always the case. When there’s a lack of oil on your face, your skin will naturally produce oil to lock in moisture, and in order to counteract with it using an argan oil based moisturizer, such as this, might not be a bad idea. Everyone’s skin type is different, but for me specifically, my skin soaks this product up like water to a sponge. Tip: Spray a couple of pumps of the Clinique Moisture Surge Face spray before applying the moisturizer.
