HealthGreatness: How did you get started into fitness?
Alicia: I have always been athletic. In elementary school my grand mother noticed I was faster than all the kids in the playground and found a track coach for me. I played every sport as well and was always very competitive. In high school I was fascinated at why I was better than everyone else so I decided to take Kinesiology in University. During University I started to coach track and there was a huge weight lifting component to it so I started being a trainer as well. It just kind of all fell into place.

HealthGreatness: How has fitness and health been a part of your life?
Alicia: I have integrated in all aspects. I leave, breath, eat and date it haha.

HealthGreatness: With accomplishing so much already from being an athlete, trainer, and coach; what keeps you motivated in your career?
Alicia: The fact that there are people out there who want my help to achieve their goals. I always want more and the fitness industry is ever changing and challenging. There is constant learning to be done and that keeps me motivated! There’s still lots to achieve.

HealthGreatness: What does your weekly workout look like?
Alicia: I normal do fasted cardio in the morning. That is usually interval training of some sort. A lift some where late afternoon or evening and another steady state cardio in the evening. Sometimes I workout with my clients as well if they are capable of keeping up with me.

HealthGreatness: What is a staple food item in your diet?
Alicia: Cream of wheat. That is my favorite carb source. Its so tasty and I think the texture is way better than oatmeal! YUM!

HealthGreatness: You train tons of clients, what is one important key to keeping them motivated during training?
Alicia: Right now I am trying to move away from the 1 on 1 training. But I do have a few and some groups and my University track team that I coach. Everyone is different in what motivates them. But I always like to set goals for them. It helps you stay on track if you have a set goal.

HealthGreatness: Do you have any advice for someone who is trying to get fit and in shape but does not know how to start?
Alicia: Find a certified trainer that has experience and transformation pictures of his or her clients. This shows that they do want to help you and aren’t in it just for the money. The trainers who genuinely care will get you the results. If you schedule is crazy don’t commit to an in person trainer. I suggest buying an online program and doing it where you can fit it in. The online trainer will still keep you accountable with check ins online and photos.

HealthGreatness: You are already so successful in your career, what is next?
Alicia: I want to do more commercial gigs and television. I have shot a few commercials already but I would like more. I also want to be in more print. I have been in a lot of magazines and I would love a monthly trainer column or something like that. I also want to grow my online presence with more followers and get more popular as an online trainer. My new website is geared towards that and I am in the process of slowly releasing programs.

HealthGreatness: Have you ever been star struck with any of your celebrity clients?
Alicia: Nope. They are the same as us.

HealthGreatness: Do you have a motto you live by?
Alicia: Don’t be afraid of being uncomfortable. Thats when change occurs.
