Karena and Katrina, the founders of the Tone It Up have brought a fresh approach to fitness with their fun, energetic, girlfriend-to-girlfriend method of getting fit. Since founding Tone It Up, they have built a brand of fitness products, community, retreats, and nutrition plans. Karena and Katrina are real life best friends and business partners. These powerful and amazing ladies are blazing a path in the fitness and health industry and also making their mark as great entrepreneurs!

HealthGreatness: How did you ladies meet?
Karena: We were both working out on a Friday night at the gym when we met. Having both just moved to the area it was awesome to connect with each other. We quickly realized we had a lot in common – especially a love for fitness. After that we started hanging out non-stop!
HealthGreatness: How did you get into fitness and health and how has it affected your lives?
Karena: I started training for triathlons with my dad when I was young, so he was the one that initially got me into working out. Health and fitness has totally changed my life for the better! It’s made me happier, stronger and more confident!
Katrina: I fell in love with fitness at a young age but really started to focus on it when I was in college, learning all of the science behind how the body works. I started my own fitness journey around the same time and felt amazing from treating my body right!
HealthGreatness: What was the inspiration behind Tone It Up and how did you guys start it?
Katrina: Karena and I wanted to share the healthy lifestyle that we loved so much in a fun way with people everywhere. We started filming workouts on the beach and nutrition videos in our own kitchens. Eventually it became Tone It Up! We never imagined it would grow into what it is today.
HealthGreatness: Since you ladies are trainers, what is your favorite exercise?
Katrina: Deadlifts and squats! They really sculpt the booty.
Karena: Squats are amazing. I also love overhead presses for toning sexy shoulders and biceps.
HealthGreatness: How can someone lose that last 5 pounds that never seem to want to go away?
Karena: We love our 7 Day Slim Down for getting rid of that extra bloat or few pounds. We use it whenever we get ready for photoshoots, vacations or special events. It combines incredibly de-bloating and nutritious meals with high intensity workouts!
HealthGreatness: What is your favorite cheat meal?
Karena: Hot wings.
Katrina: Red wine and chocolate!
HealthGreatness: You ladies love to inspire women, what is the one message you want to tell all the women out there?
Katrina: There’s opportunity for so much in each new day. You deserve everything you can dream of and if it’s important to you, go for it!
HealthGreatness: Working over 100 hours a week, what do you ladies like to do for fun?
Karena: Honestly, work is fun. We get to hang out with people we like to be around, doing the things we love! Outside of work we love yoga classes and taking our dogs for long walks.
HealthGreatness: What is up next for the ladies of Tone It Up?
Katrina: We love creating new fitness apparel and beauty products to match the TIU lifestyle. We also are always in the works of creating new Perfect Fit Protein flavors. We just recently launched the coconut flavor that will BLOW you away!! So great in post workout smoothies.
HealthGreatness: What is one fun fact that your fans do not know about you?
Karena: I have more hats than shoes… My closet is overflowing with hats!
Katrina: My favorite weekend get-away is Catalina! Perfect for a relaxing weekend of ocean breeze and good friends.
