“There is a difference between having a fitness mindset and being a ‘gym junkie.’ What I’ve noticed most about being a fitness trainer is the positive affect fitness has on my clients. To watch as their overall outlook on life becomes more optimistic with each workout. Setting a fitness goal is a journey of self-discovery. It doesn’t matter if you’re working toward doing your first push-up or training for your first marathon. When you set a fitness goal, you learn about how to overcome obstacles. You discover the secret to inner strength that’s been hiding in your soul…just waiting to help you become a better you. We start small. Then we build. Slow and strong. Having a fitness mindset is about setting a realistic goal, and then not stopping until you get there.”
“Fitness is not only about how we look, it is also about how we feel, love and inspire each other.”
HealthGreatness: How did you get started in fitness? Alexia: I’ve always loved exercising and playing sports. When I graduated from Arizona State University I was in marketing but wasn’t loving it. For the longest time i had a great need to help others. I was always in the gym and when people started asking me for help i realized I could live doing what I love and fulfilling my dream of changing peoples lives.
HealthGreatness: You love helping people, besides just making a person get fit, you also want to make them grow mentally. Why is having a strong fitness mindset important to you?
Alexia: Fitness/working out has always been looked at as changing yourself physically wether your goal was to lose weight or gain muscle it was “superficial” What I’ve come to realize is that having a fitness mindset can be used to change how you feel emotionally. Fitness can help a pessimist attitude become optimistic, help someone depressed become happy and most importantly help every single one of us learn how to tap into who we really are. We all have hard times and we all have gone through things that haven’t gone our way but fitness can help us learn how to push ourselves through failure and come up on top because each day you are one step closer to reaching your goal.
HealthGreatness: What does being a Reebok and FATE athlete mean to you?
Alexia: You say Reebok, I say family. Each and every person I’ve met at Reebok and through Reebok has been so inspiring to me. I can literally tell you how each of them have made a difference in my life. We have grown up knowing that our families will accept us and love us no matter what and thats how Reebok is. They are about working together has a team to make the world a happier healthier place no matter what has happened to you in your past. They are about knowing who the real you is and how you got to where you are.
FATE is an incredible team to be apart of. Working together with FATE inspire others to choose fitness to be apart of their life is what its about. I’ve always been the kind of person that wants to lift others up and that is exactly how my team FATE is. We lift each other up because we are all working towards the same goal.
HealthGreatness: You have amazing workout videos on your social media! What does your weekly workout routine look like?
Alexia: Aw! Thank you!! My workouts are always different! I mix HIIT with traditional lifting with crossfit and make my own little Alexia workout. I use a lot of full body movements and I don’t try to lift as heavy as I can. Form is so important to me!
HealthGreatness: All of your meals look amazing on your Instagram, but on your cheat day what is your favorite cheat meal?
Alexia: You know, nutrition is so important when you are trying to live a healthy life but being happy is also SO IMPORTANT! Diets never work long term but what works is eating the right things for your body without feeling like you are restricted so I guess I don’t really have cheat meals. I never feel like I NEED to have a cheat meal. If I want something I eat it. It’s about moderation. But, I do have a weakness from french fries 🙂
HealthGreatness: Do you have any advice or inspirational words for someone who is trying to make a change and get fit?
Alexia: The most important thing is finding why you want to make the change to have a fitness mindset. It doesn’t always have to be about how you look. How are you feeling now and how can fitness help you? It doesn’t even have to be about you, if you want to strengthen a relationship fitness is an incredible way to learn more about the other person and make the relationship stronger than ever.
Find your why then find your way.
HealthGreatness: Do you have a motto you live by?
Alexia: I feel like I live by lots of mottos 🙂
“Do what you love, love what you do.”
“A compliment unsaid is a soul unfed.”
“Those who dare to fail miserably can achieve greatly.”
“Eyes up, rise up.”
“You were born with the ability to change someones life, don’t waste it.”
“There are only two days that nothing can be done. Ones called yesterday and the other one is called tomorrow.”
HealthGreatness: What is one fun fact that your fans don’t know about you?
Alexia: I love wrapping presents! I actually get really into it. You should see me at Christmas. I have to wrap everyones gift differently, buy all sorts of different ribbon and things to tie onto the bow. It’s like a hobby for me!
