Brittany Lesser is a 23-year-old fitness YouTuber and blogger, NASM certified personal trainer and online coach, social media project manager, sponsored athlete, and bikini competitor. She has obtained her Bachelor of Science in Health Education from the University of Florida. Brittany strives to help, inspire, and motivate others in the fitness industry, and to make a difference in people’s lives. She has found her passion and her path in life through fitness and hopes to share that with others to inspire them to live their dream.
HealthGreatness: How did you get into fitness?
Brittany: It’s kind of a long story with that, however, I will try to keep it short and sweet! I had been active my whole life, and I started getting into the gym and eating better back in high school. However, I only cared about getting skinny and not gaining weight. After my first summer away at college, a few unfortunate events happened to me so I started really changing my lifestyle and getting into the gym more seriously. I started running long distances, but things spiraled out of control and I was back to the same mentality as before but even worse – working out to burn calories, eating very little calories and not enough to support my training, and I just had an unhealthy relationship with food and exercise. After my first half marathon, I came across photos of fitness models and bikini competitors and I wanted to look like them – strong, healthy, and happy. I started lifting weights and never looked back, my life was changed and I found my true passion in the industry.
HealthGreatness: Being a Youtuber, blogger, trainer, athlete and much more, how do you stay motivated to keep doing what you are doing?
Brittany: I stay motivated because this is my passion. I love every single thing I do, and that is the key to being successful in my opinion. When I first started doing all that I do now, I did it all for free. I made virtually no money blogging, on YouTube, training, or competing. I put my own time and money into these things, and thankfully they have turned into my career and I am forever grateful.
HealthGreatness: With a busy schedule, what does your workout schedule look like?
Brittany: My workout schedule is the same as always because I make my time at the gym a priority. I’m currently in competition prep, so I lift 5-6 days per week (split: lower, upper, lower, upper, glute focus lower, and sometimes an extra shoulder day) and am currently doing about 4 cardio sessions (2 HIIT, 2 Moderate).
HealthGreatness: Do you have a strict diet or do you just eat clean and healthy?
Brittany: I follow flexible dieting, also known as IIFYM, which gives me the freedom to eat what I want as long as I hit my macros. I keep it pretty basic and simple though, because I feel best eating whole foods. Also, being on prep, it’s best to fill your macros with healthy whole foods, and voluminous foods since you are cutting calories and in a deficit.
HealthGreatness: What is the next step in your fitness career?
Brittany: The next step is to continue what I’m doing now, but continue to grow exponentially and reach more people to help, motivate, and inspire them in any way that I can. I am competing multiple times this year and hope to hit a national stage, I want to grow my online coaching business, my youtube channel, and so much more.
HealthGreatness: Do you have any advice or motivational words for someone who is aspiring to get in shape and change their lives?
Brittany: If there is something you want, go for it – don’t let fear of the unknown hold you back. You are capable of more than you know!
HealthGreatness: What is one fun fact that your fans don’t know about you?
Brittany: I am an introverted extrovert! Most people would never guess I am introverted (from YouTube or in person), but I am definitely a little bit of both. I can be extremely shy and I like to be alone, but I can also be extremely outgoing and love to be around others. Odd, I know 😛
